MEETBOWL

“ when we meet in a bowl ”

About Meetbowl?

Inspired by the nostalgic taste of home, Meetbowl brings authentic, intimate dishes right to the heart of Melbournians. Freshly made every day, our bowl of warm, brothy noodles and meatballs is the perfect companion day and night.

History of meatballs.

Bakso has its authentic roots from Chinese cuisine, with its word originating from ‘bah-so’ in Hokkien, which means fluffy meat.

Bakso is usually made from ground meat and its versatility as a dish is demonstrated by the many variations of how it is put together: served fried or with soup, accompanied by noodles or rice vermicelli, with a splash of chilli or a dash of soy sauce!

Bakso’s popularity in Indonesia is widespread, served in local ‘gerobaks’ (street carts) and also global chain restaurants. People love a warm bowl of bakso to satisfy their appetite, especially on a cold rainy day!

Established in 2005

Meetbowl is an Indonesian restaurant, specialising in street-style Indonesian cuisine. Australia and Indonesia have always had a good relationship and we wanted to expose our culture by providing Indonesian street food which is Bakso in Melbourne.

Founded in 2005 by international students looking for homemade dishes, Meetbowl brings authentic, handmade brothy meatballs to Melbourne. What started as a simple cooking project turned into opening its door in South Melbourne.

What Meetbowl
is all about

Meetbowl, which resembles meatballs in sound, was inspired by the idea of bringing people together with a warm bowl of meatballs. In the same way, we are hoping to introduce meatballs as part of Melbourne's diverse and vibrant food scene.

If you are looking to satisfy your cravings and pamper your taste buds, come and visit us on 95 York Street in South Melbourne!
